Writing and speaking has been a passion of mine since I can remember. I suppose coming out of a politically active family that valued intellect, discourse and debate above all, had something to do with it. Sitting with my dad in Franschhoek listening to LPs (yes, it was a while ago) of the great thinkers and speakers of the age – Winston Churchill, JF Kennedy and Martin Luther King got me hooked on words. Since then it has been my passion to write exceptionally and convey my message passionately so that people will have a revolution of heart and mind.
I suppose my value proposition says it all: Thinking, writing and speaking to change the world!
In 2002 I decided to teach sales and marketing professionals how to use some of the persuasive techniques I had learned over the last 15 years as a public relations consultant, marketing practitioner and sales management professional. I designed a public seminar called, How to Persuade Anybody to do Almost Anything to achieve this end. More than 3 000 people attended the seminar before I retired it in 2006 (I did turn it into a 90-minute DVD) so that I could focus on my marketing, writing and conference speaking business.
Since then my writing has graced the brochures, websites and sales letters of advertising agencies, financial institutions, FMCG companies, IT companies, travel agencies and personnel agencies, amongst others.
